Every little thing helps ..............Bag Packing

Scouts had a good bag packing session on Sunday and many thanks to the people of Dronfield who kindly donated their spare change. We also offer extra services to the standard bag packers - till to car service too.

Evening Camp

Lovely autumn evening - everyone's joining in getting wood, cooking, chopping and relaxing. Heat soon to come with the chilli !!!

Climbing

Abseiling this morning - learning to use the big muscles not small. Unfortunately we couldn't climb with jaw muscles so opting for legs.

Off to our first activity

Sent from my iPhoneDidn't get much sleep last night - combination of first night camping, owls and partying squirrels.
Climbing this morning and canoeing this afternoon.
Full breakfast this morning - of course. Chilli for tea ....

Fishing in Lincolnshire

Fishing - new activity. John kindly took 5 Scouts fishing in Lincolnshire. We caught various sized Perch and Roach. We also caught two 5lb Carps which took a while to pull in. Carp in the picture is Geoffrey. Scouts used whip lines to fish with. We also had a Maggot Olympics - fast wigglers ended up as bait and slowest in the water to entise the hungry fish.

Home

We are back. Fantastic week with an excellent team. We have the usual odd socks, box of mystery and mucky kit to sort. Anyone lost anything then let us know.

On the beach day ....

Sent from my iPhoneOn the beach in lovely Llandundno. Sandcastle and ice creams on draft. Sun kind of out but running about you keeps you warm. Everyone's in the mess tent tonight so no sleep - be prepared for some zombies coming home.

It's sunny and lovely

We have had a weather change - hurrah ! It's stopped raining and the sun is out. We are having a BBQ tonight with our chopped wood from Donalds axe and saw master class.
Hike day today. One group went out on the tops and the other group did a lake and features walk with a compulsory stop for an ice cream or two.
Seaside day tomorrow .......

We go everywhere

Sent from my iPhoneWeather - rain, wind, rain, wind - make your mind up !
Canoeing today on Lake Gwynant and a potter around Betws Y Coed.
Canoeing went well which a short hike across to the Lake and a guaranteed soak at the end.
Tomorrow is hike day. Wind should be dropping so it's up up and away.

Climbing today

Today we are climbing around Tryfan. We set up four routes and everyone had a go going up. Routes got harder the further we went up. Great views down the valley towards Yr Hafod Scout mountaineer centre. Weather has held up today after a down pour yesterday evening. Tomorrow looks fun with winds picking up but we are in sheltered valley. Beef Curry for tea - spicy as you like.
Canoeing tomorrow.

Expedition - Wet, Wet and Wet

Well what a wet one..........
Scouts walked 8 Km from Millthorpe learning navigation on the way. Overnight we stayed as Baslow and the heavens just opened. Everything got wet including the cake. Next day after packing up all the wet kit, it was 12 KM back to Dronfield to dry out and warm up. Well done to all Scouts who took part - certainly a challenge.

Queens 90th

Sent from my iPhoneScouts celebrate the Queens 90th with a mini party and an attempt to send her a birthday message style - this is meant to spell Happy Birthday

Dronfield 10KM

All round sucess at the Dronfield 10 K this year. We had some excellent times from both Scouts and parents with Scouts coming 2nd, 3rd, 11th and 16th in the fun run and parents competing in the main run all coming under 1 hour.
Further we kicked off our Shelter Box appeal with £85 being raised on the day to get us well under way for our target of £600 !
Weather was excellent for all and thank you again to every one who marshalled in the event,                                                                                       Much appreciated.

Chilly Challenge

This years Chilly Challenge wasn't so Chilly but we had a Chilli Out time. Film, Spag Bol, Games and Camping Out. Scouts all stayed in one tent - did anyone get any sleep "No" ! However less canvas to dry.

Navigation on a Cold Day

Few Scouts headed out on our first navigation course to teach land to map interpretation. We had some interesting discussions on where we are but made it back safe and sound.
