Navigation on a Cold Day

Few Scouts headed out on our first navigation course to teach land to map interpretation. We had some interesting discussions on where we are but made it back safe and sound.

We Won !

Congratulations to 7th for winning the Sheaf District Annual Splash Competition at Graves Swimming Pool. Three events, including Water Polo, which some Scouts all got talented spotted at.
Gold Medals are real !

Drums a Drumming

Scouts learnt about African Drumming on Wednesday. We played a mixture of Group and Team work sets and by the end everyone was playing in harmony. Scouts were set a challenge to play a rhythm together, for 60 seconds. Cobras came out on top with an excellent display of team work.

Remembrance Day Parade

7th attended the Remembrance Day parade in Dronfield Town Centre on Sunday. Excellent turn of both Scouts and locals to remember those who have given their lives in armed conflict. Service was well attended with a few extra wreaths presented this year.

Mountain Biking Event "it's a bit foggy isn't it?!" ....

12 Scouts went on adventure today with Mountain Biking with Derbyshire Scouts MTB Team.

Ol quotes "Mountain biking through the new Lady Canning's wood trail was great fun added to by the atmospheric fog "

Autumn Camp - Whitley Woods Sheffield

Camp at Whitley Woods, Ringinglow, Sheffield - we went Geocaching, made Thai Stir Fry ( love the fish sauce) and had a circus skills session with Mickey Bimble.
Dark nights are drawing in so we had good weather but frosty starts.

Lea Brook Valley

Well done everyone this morning who helped at the Lea Brook Valley Festival. We collected 13 bags of rubbish from the valley area. This all helps towards the local environment !

Summer Camp 2016

Hello
Yes we are setting dates already for next Summers Camp w/c 30th July. Scouts will decide next term where - hot contenders are Devon and North Wales:

                                                                        Or

New Term Start Date

Hello
We start back, after the summer break, on Wednesday 9th September

Home

After an excellent camp it was good to be home. Scout Leader very broken at the end and crawled into bed for an afternoon nap.
Below photo is Rosie the Cat who insisted on being in the way at every opportunity while trying to do washing ( 6 loads) and putting kit away ....but she is very cute ( and knows it)

Tidy tent policy

7th operate a strict tidy tent policy - this photo demonstrates this. Not really sure who decided that everything needs to come out of bags and find a pitch before we had finished clearing the mess tent out but that exactly what happened. Scout Leader implemented a new policy of "no odd socks go back to Scout Hut" which didn't seem to make a slight bit of difference as I have serval at home ...

Lost the Plot

Towards the end of camp it all goes slightly weird. Tiredness, Adrenaline starting to release and looking forward to going but sad to go kicks in. We all chipped in re clear up. Billy decided we needed some karma in the camp. Girls as usual providing the muscle.
